Along with the
Artist's affinity for the water,
the challenge of bringing a curved
plane into a wooden construction was
the thrust behind this three-dimensional
work. As the piece developed, it took
on the physicality of the fin of an
aquatic animal. Ulitmately, the form
represents stability and direction in the same way
the appendage is used to steady and guide many
marine species and vessels.
The front panel is in shades of yellow
and the side straight panel (left)
is in shades of deep crimsons and
reds. The curved side piece (right),
which was formed by cutting and scoring
the wood, is in shades of deep turquoises
and teal.
Tech Specs: This piece extends out six inches when placed on a flat wall.
